We recently completed a project with the team at HelpDigital and their client Meg Rivers Artisan Bakery.
As part of a website refresh, the bakery were looking to automate the ordering and production of their delivery labels from APC Overnight ensuring that their dispatch process was as smooth as possible. Their store was moving over to the Shopify eCommerce platform. They didn't require complex real-time shipping pricing integration, instead handling shipping using Shopify's built-in pricing tools.
Once an order is ready for fulfilment though, the team wanted the shipping order to be placed with their shipping partner APC Overnight. This would then generate the shipping label automatically, which could then be made available through Shopify's bulk label printing solution allowing them to print off a batch of delivery labels all in one go.
HelpDigital had done an initial one-off proof-of-concept integration, and approached us to finalise and scale up the build for production.
The end solution uses Shopify's webhooks, triggered when orders are marked as fulfilled. These are passed to a Laravel application which processes a queue of requests to place shipping orders with the APC API, retrieve the labels once they are produced and pass details of the label back into Shopify using the Shopify REST API.
The HelpDigital team used these labels in custom label printing templates to allow the Meg Rivers team to batch print the day's shipping labels with ease.
